The coast of Maine has long been associated with the cold and pristine crashing surf that is home to Quoddy Mist, a division of L&C Enterprise LLC. Our facility located in Lubec, Maine accesses seawater daily from the
Bay of Fundy, which has the greatest tidal range in the world (over 50 feet near the head of the bay) providing Atlantic Saltworks of Maine with a nutrient rich and unique natural resource which is the key to its distinctive flavor and texture.
Quoddy Mist produces an all natural high quality sea salt in a variety of grades, crystal sizes and flavors of sea salt and caters to white tablecloth restaurants, natural food stores and specialty gourmet shops throughout North America.
Our facility
During the 1800's Downeast Maine was home to the richest fishing grounds in North America. Salt was used to preserve these valuable catches and correspondingly several coastal saltworks operations flourished in Washington County Maine during that period. Today Quoddy Mist brings the time honored tradition of salt making back to the port town of Lubec, Maine. In addition to having the distinction of being "the eastern most town in the United States" Lubec is also home to the greatest flowing tides in the world at 28 feet. Our plant, which is strategically located along the Lubec Narrows is fed twice daily with this pristine, nutrient rich natural resource giving our signature brand "Quoddy Mist" sea salt it's unique flavor and texture. Our recently renovated 11,000 square foot HACCAP approved facility is located at 72 Water Street in the R.J. Peacock Canning Building.
